'Krang' from the 80's cartoon was actually based on the 'Ultrom,' an alien race from the ORIGINAL comic book series (which came before the incredibly cheesy 80's toon). They repurposed the alien design for the show as a standalone villain, 'Krang' -- more recent series, like the Nick version, remain closer to the source material in some regards, such as presenting a race of alien beings, rather than a single 'Krang.' They seem to be similar to 'Borg' from Star Trek. #TheMoreYouKnow

I've been wondering, how long did it take you guys to come up with the story and Game-Design Document for Cryamore? And do you have any tips for anyone trying to construct a story for an RPG game (like JRPG Turn-Based or Action-Adventure that is)? Thanks in advance for answering my question!

To lay the basic groundwork for the game’s story and concept, it actually took one whole night of brainstorming. We drew out the direct plots that drive the story along, the gameplay style, and the character concepts all in one sitting. Everything else is iterated as development goes along.

As for tips to construct an RPG, generally, it’s the same as learning proper narrative. If you can write out and detail a plot, and learn how to structure it properly with different branches without plot holes, then you can write any kind of story, be it JRPG, Platformer, Comic, Novel, etc. I would suggest looking up on the subject of narrative writing further.

This was something I learned and explored enthusiastically when I was in grammar/high school, and it just comes easy to me now. But with investment in time of grasping the basic principles, you should be alright! :)

I’m doing turnarounds for the statues to refine and tweak them, and I figured this would be a nice way to show differentiation between proportions and body types.

A lot of people, to the untrained eye, would designate a woman with a body like Bliss’ as being “chubby”, when that’s not the case when stacked up against a gal with a body type like Esmy’s. Matter of fact, if you would pause this gif and look at her body when not even comparing to Esmy’s, she’d even look larger than Esmy in your head (well, she is larger, but not like that!).

Both of these drawings are in scale, and just by shifting the proportions, you can see how much your eyes can play tricks on you.

Let’s take the lines away and fill it with silhouettes…

Now it’s interesting; Bliss’ silhouette, although still curvy, somehow seems skinnier, does it? The framing of the hair makes her body look more petite, and what happened to Esmy’s? Looks like she looks a little fuller and stumpy at the bottom now, even though she’s slightly skinnier than Bliss is. That’s why fashion articles go all about “hairstyles that makes you look slimmer” and why “wearing black makes you look skinnier than you actually are”, that’s because it’s true. Negative space.

Your eye perceives and takes things in as a whole.

Another thing to note is all around curvature, the subtle things that defines a curvy gal as a “curvy gal”. I don’t have the side profiles here, but I’m not going to show them so you can ascertain from the same front viewpoint.

It’s no doubt both Esmy and Bliss have a ‘figure’ to them, I (designed them that way), but if you look at the way I applied shadow to the abs, you can see Bliss has a more rounder and “healthier” tummy in comparison to Esmy. Esmy is more “washboard” like, where her abs are more flat and toned. Also, if you look at the silhouette, on the hips, Bliss has an additional curve right below her waist, which then pops out into another curve which is her hips. Esmy’s just have a streamlined curve that follows along her waist, but she’s actually more straighter in the front and back than Bliss is on a profile shot.

Now is Bliss “fatter” or “chubbier” than Esmy? Not by any means, she’s just more curvy. Simple as that.

I kept drawing and coloring and focused on getting better and adding pictures to my galleries and whatnot, and they started hiring me for jobs until they made me a crew member. Mind that I had no intention from the outset (or even the possibility) of “getting put on”; I mainly drew for myself.

Also, with the help of my good friend Chamba, he introduced me to one of the bosses there, and from then on, it was just pure “networking”, to say the least.

I really like your art and the way you draw your characters. There's always a certain elegance to them and their poses. Do you look at pictures, reference, etc. when drawing a pose, or do you just " wing it"?

Though I couldn’t do it without having some solid grasp of anatomy and other things. So that must be learned in order to “wing it”.
