"Anemometric Acceleration" from Cryamore.
This is the day version of an area in the game called Gale Valley. It was a big lesson in mixing for me! At the time, I’d never used ghost notes before (nearly inaudible notes that help fill out the texture and drive the rhythm… and are haunted) or squeezed this many countermelodies together (several instruments in the same frequency range competing with each other for aural space). It felt like solving a puzzle, seeing if I could Tetris the sounds together.

One of the concept artists, Judy, sketches the various expressions for each character. It is then sent off to Rob, the lead artist to “ink” and color to keep within the game’s overall art style.
