Continuation from last week’s post; here’s the proportion notes I sent off to our sculptor over the weekend for the statues. I ended up tweaking the head size some more for the statues, so now they’ll be more close to IRL proportions.
Just unboxed this huge Amanda Werner figure from Blassreiter I had sitting around for a while, and wow. Amazing sculpt (and my kinda body type :3). She’s a bit over 11 inches tall and pretty heavy, not die-cast “heavy”, but she has some weight to her (no pun intended).
The only things I’m not really a fan of is the way her hair splits in the back. I mean, I know it was done that way to focus on her healthy gluteus maximus, but the way it looks in the back just looks awkward. Like the hair just went “open sesame” to reveal the backside. Hair just doesn’t work that way, but hey, it’s an anime figure. You take what you can get. It looks better from the front.
Also, she seems like she’d eventually lean the more she’s out; the peg that goes in her foot is pretty long, but still, it just looks like one of those figures that it’s bound to happen to.
Since she’s so huge, (and will probably lean eventually) I really don’t have any place left to put her, but I might just keep her out for a bit. She makes for some good reference perception.
9 out of 10, yo.
After what seemed to be forever a wait, I finally got my hands on that fantastic Velvet figure by Yamato. I’ve been eyeing her ever since the first release. And I must say, she’s easily top tier on the figure collection list now and well worth the wait.
This one is the recent third re-release. Had preordered her a while back (sometime in November(?), December(?) I forgot), and just now got a chance to unbox her amidst all of this ruckus.
The detail on her is simply magnificent, and I highly recommend grabbing her if the chance meets you. Now I’m in the mood to draw some Odin Sphere, but alas, so much work. ;___;
Also, Goku will never learn the difference between girls and boys, eh?
Selling my Sega Panty & Stocking Prize Figures!

Hey figure/statue collectors who watch me!
*UPDATE!* I wasn’t aware that they’re going for less now, so I changed it to $40 +s/h.
I’m selling BOTH of my 22cm (lil’ bit over 8 in.) SEGA Panty & Stocking Prize figures for $40 (plus shipping). They come with their original boxes, smoke-free environment, like-new condition, yadda yadda. I think Stocking alone averages around $60-65 bucks these days…
A friend got me the Alter ones so having two pairs of P&S figures is kinda pointless (unless its Yoko or Chun-Li for me, heh).
You can check them out further here.
Shoot me a message here or an email to robaato.art@gmail.com if you’re interested! I’ll delete this post when someone grabs it.
Here’s a 3D digital look at what a lucky few KS pledgers will be getting themselves into. The Bliss Barson Resin Figure will be 9 inches tall. She won’t do much other than look her best for you. =)
YEAHYURRRR! #TeamBliss
CryaMonday!
Here’s a 3D digital look at what a lucky few KS pledgers will be getting themselves into. The Esmyrelda Maximus Resin figure will be 9 inches high, and will have two separate head pieces (one facing the way you see it now, and one looking directly to the front). She will also come with her four standard weapons (the sword, spear, axe, and crossbow).
Hope you guys are getting just as excited as we are.
Digital sculpt by Muhammad Usman.
EXCITED!
So, here’s a sneak peek at a work-in-progress of the 3D sculpt for the Esmyrelda figure~
More news to come soon. Sit tight!
- One of the Reference Sheets for the fine folks at Gensen Figure to use for the sculpt!
Had to preorder it. So I did. Always wanted a Mai statue; bastards are always so expensive (that super awesome Kinu Nish’ sculpt was always so dang pricey, but I will definitely be pleased with this one). So best time to get one, and a dope-sexy sculpt/paint job as well. They have a white one available for preorder as well, but that’s not iconic enough for me.
So, those Rat Rage figures I was talking about earlier this week? It’s going to happen. Starting off with Nini first (as she’s the simplest/cost effective to make, but I’m getting them both made)!
Mass figures are gonna end up costing $30 to $40 a piece, so that’s generally very inexpensive compared to how much anime figures cost. I don’t know how big of the run it’s going to be, it’s all depending on how many preorders I’ll get. (I’m sure it’ll be a Kickstarter incentive as well.) She’ll be 16cm (approximately 6 and a half inches) tall (Rai would be an extra cm taller). For those who were asking, I’m getting them done at the fine folks at HK-Gensen Figure, who has a done a TON of top notch statue/figure work.
I just have to get the money to get the prototype(s) made, and then it’s smooth sailing from there on out for the most part! I’ll be keeping you guys posted here on my Tumblr for it.
Talking with a Japanese PVC figure company about some Rat Rage figures. =D
They wanted a general idea of how they would look for the quote, so these are the mockup sketches. I’m shooting for 1:6 or 1:7 scale figures, so we’ll see.
Who wants in? =)
So I woke up this morning and realized that I really couldn’t stand that retracted sniper rifle barrel on the 5th Anniversary Yoko PVC (it’s blasphemy to do that on a 5th Anniversary figure!), so I switched it with the one from my other Yoko figure. They were quite close in scale, so I was like AWWW YEAHH. She looks much better with the longer barrel now, and my first one looks more cute and compact with the retracted one.
BAM.
Gainax Gals
Okay, I said I was gonna go to sleep, but I opened up some of my figures i got this weekend, and ohhh man. Y’all know Yoko’s mah’ gal, and I’m a big Gurren Lagaan nut, and a figure collecting aficionado. Dis 5th Anniversary Yoko statue…

And some Otakon swag that I treated myself with! Missed out on last year’s swag-search, so I had to redeem myself. I’ll post detail shots of each when I get back home.
